Today is Agnes' Name Day. This day has always been a bit like a birthday for us, traditionally celebrated with small gifts and preparing some of Agnes' favourite dishes. It's been a day dedicated to Agnes, a time to make her feel extra special and loved. Additionally, in Poland we also celebrate Grandma's Day, and we know that Agnes would send a lot of love to Grandma Irenka.
This year, without Agnes, our traditions have had to adapt. Our longing to hug her, to simply be in the same room listening to her sing or hum a tune, feels more emotional than ever. Yet, we sense Agnes' presence with us still, and in that spirit, we continue our ritual of remembrance. We're moving forward, marking important days on the calendar and honouring Agnes with love, sharing stories, and revisiting the delicious dishes she used to create.
Today, we immersed ourselves in music from Sanah, a Polish artist Agnes admired, and indulged in her delightful winter kompot and a serving of her layered sweet, fruity kasha creation (recipe to come). With the ski jumping competition on TV, a backdrop to our day, our thoughts are frequently with Agnes.
I want to take this moment to share a tribute to Agnes. So, grab a warm cup of your favourite drink, make yourself comfortable, and join me in celebrating her memory... 💜
